# here.now, but over MCP and with Word and PowerPoint in the browser

here.now gives agents instant hosting, a generous free plan and strong access control. artifact.guru connects to your AI over MCP, opens Word, PowerPoint and React components in the browser, and shows each invited person who opens a link.

## Pick here.now if

- Your agent can make HTTP calls and you want a free plan with 500 sites and 10 GB.
- You want links open to a whole email domain, or free workspaces for up to 50 people.
- You want extras: a built-in database for forms and polls, private Drives, domain buying.

## Pick artifact.guru if

- Your AI should connect over MCP with one approval in the browser.
- You share Word, PowerPoint, Markdown or React files that should open as pages.
- You want to see which invited people opened a link, and who hasn’t yet.

## here.now and artifact.guru, row by row

| Question | here.now | artifact.guru |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Publish from AI agents | Agent skill and HTTP API (API key, or no account for 24-hour sites); MCP not advertised | Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Gemini CLI, Grok and any MCP app, over OAuth; no API keys |
| Upload it yourself | Not documented | Drag in files, or a whole folder for a built site or React app |
| What opens in the browser | Static sites and apps; single images, PDFs, video and audio get a viewer, others download | HTML, React, Markdown, PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, images, diagrams, zipped sites |
| Who can open a link | Anyone with the link, password, invite-only emails or domains, owner-only, members-only | Private, public or secret code on every plan; email invites (up to 50) on paid plans |
| Who opened it | Views, estimated visitors, top paths, referrers, countries and crawlers on every plan | Paid plans: names on email links; counts, sources and devices on the rest |
| Updates and versions | Every publish is a version you can preview, restore or delete, on every plan | Every change is a new version at the same link; roll back any time (Free keeps 3) |
| Your own domain | 1 custom domain on Free, 5 on Hobby, 20 on Developer; domains can be bought in-app | Your subdomain for public and secret-code links, from $12 a month |
| Team workspace | Free workspaces for up to 50 members; admin and member roles; email-domain auto-join | Team: one workspace, admins and members, a project per client, comments you can assign |
| Price | Free $0/month; Hobby $4/month; Developer $20/month; no-account sites last 24 hours | Free $0; Individual $12/month; Team $30/month for 3 editors, then $8 each |

## Where here.now is good

- The Free plan is generous: 500 sites, 10 GB, analytics and version history, and agents can publish with no account for 24 hours.
- Access control is strong: a password, invite-only by verified email or whole email domain, owner-only, or members-only workspaces.
- It goes past hosting, with a built-in database for forms and polls, private Drives for agent files, and domains you can buy in-app.

## Where artifact.guru is different

- Agents publish over MCP from Claude (claude.ai, desktop, mobile, Claude Code), Codex, Gemini CLI, Grok and any app that adds a remote MCP server with OAuth. You approve once in the browser.
- PDF, Word, PowerPoint, React components and Markdown with Mermaid, Excalidraw and Marp slides open in the browser. The original is always downloadable.
- Email links show each invited person who opened it, when and how often, and who hasn’t opened yet. Your team’s own opens don’t count.
- In a Team workspace, search covers the text inside PDFs, Word and PowerPoint, and projects keep work apart per client or launch.

## Moving over from here.now

1. Use the files your agent already has, or read them back from here.now with your API key.
2. Add artifact.guru to your AI as a remote MCP server and approve it once in the browser.
3. Ask your AI to publish, then pick who can open each link: your workspace, invited emails, a secret code or public.

## Questions

### Does here.now have an MCP server?

Not as of October 8, 2026: its docs say it does not currently claim public MCP or OAuth support. Agents publish through its skill and HTTP API with an API key, or with no account for sites that last 24 hours.

### Can I limit a link to everyone at my company?

here.now can allow a whole email domain on a restricted site, or put a password on it. artifact.guru invites specific people instead, up to 50 addresses per artifact, each signing in with that address, and has secret codes, not passwords.

### Do Word and PowerPoint files open in the browser?

On artifact.guru, yes, along with PDF, React and Markdown. here.now gives single images, PDFs, video and audio a viewer and shows a download page for other files.

### Which costs less?

here.now costs less. Its Free plan has 500 sites and 10 GB, paid plans are $4 or $20 a month, and workspaces for up to 50 members are free. artifact.guru is $0 for 3 live links, $12 a month for Individual and $30 a month for Team with 3 editors.
