# Publish and upload

Publish from an agent or upload files yourself: supported formats, limits, names, search and projects.

## Publish from an agent

Ask in plain words. The agent picks a title, sends the file and replies with its link. New artifacts are always **private**: only your workspace can open them until you share.

Text formats (Markdown, Mermaid, Excalidraw, a single HTML page, a React component) travel straight through the connection, so any client can publish them. Binary files (images, PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, zipped sites) are uploaded first, which needs an agent that can send file bytes, such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or Grok Bot.

## Upload in the browser

1. **Open your workspace** Go to [artifact.guru](https://artifact.guru/) and sign in.
2. **Add files** Drag files anywhere on the page, or use **Upload files**. Drop them on a project to file them there.
3. **Upload a whole site** Use **Upload folder** for a built site or a React app: the folder becomes one artifact, served as a site.

> **Tip.** Each file becomes its own artifact with a preview and a private link. Share it when you're ready.

## Supported formats

| Format | Files | How it opens |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Images | PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, SVG, HEIC | Full size. If a browser can't show a photo, the original is offered. |
| PDF | `.pdf` | Page by page |
| Word | `.docx` | As a document |
| PowerPoint | `.pptx` | Slides you can click through |
| Excel | `.xlsx` | Sheets with their formatting, formulas and tabs |
| Markdown | `.md` | Formatted, with Mermaid diagrams, Excalidraw sketches and Marp slides inside |
| Diagrams | `.mmd` Mermaid, `.excalidraw` | Drawn as a diagram or a sketch |
| Web page | `.html` | Runs in a sandbox |
| React | `.jsx`, `.tsx` | Compiled and run in a sandbox |
| Web app | A folder, or a `.zip` with `index.html` or `App.jsx` | Served as a site, in a sandbox |

> **Good to know.** Browser previews of Office files and complex sites can differ from the original app. The original file is always one click away with **Download**.

## Limits

| What | Limit |
| --- | --- |
| One file | 100 MB, or 250 MB on Team |
| A Markdown file | 2 MB |
| An HTML page or React component | 5 MB |
| A zipped site | 25 MB zipped, 64 MB unzipped |
| A folder upload | 100 MB, up to 1000 files |
| Title | 120 characters |
| Tags | 8 per artifact, 32 characters each |
| Link name | 32 characters |
| Storage | 250 MB on Free, 10 GB on Individual, no limit on Team. Older versions count. |

## Titles, tags and link names

The title comes from the file name or from your agent; rename it any time. Tags are free-form words that help search.

The **link name** is the last part of the link, as in `/q3-roadmap`. It's made from the title when you publish. Rename it in the artifact's Share panel, and links you already sent keep working: they redirect to the new name.

## Search

Search covers titles, file names, tags, projects and the text inside files, including PDF, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Text inside a new file becomes searchable a few moments after it's published.

## Projects

Projects group related artifacts, like folders. Create one in the sidebar, then drag artifacts onto it, or ask your agent: “move the Q3 files into the Q3 planning project”. Artifacts without a project stay in the main list.
