# Agent tools

The tools a connected agent gets from artifact.guru, and what each one does.

## Overview

You never call these yourself: your agent picks them from what you ask. Knowing them helps you phrase requests and follow what the agent did. When a connection has several workspaces, each tool takes an optional workspace, and tools given an artifact find its workspace on their own.

## Publish and find

| Tool | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| `publish` | Publishes a new artifact, or a new version of a binary file or site at the same link. Text formats go inline; binary files go through `create_upload` first. |
| `create_upload` | Reserves upload addresses for images, PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and zipped sites. |
| `list_artifacts` | Lists artifacts, newest first, or searches titles, file names, tags, projects and text. |
| `get_artifact` | Details of one artifact: its link, who can open it, versions and files. |
| `list_projects` | Projects in the connected workspaces, with how many artifacts each holds. |

## Read and edit

| Tool | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| `read_artifact` | Reads an artifact's source before a change: whole files with line numbers, or an outline of larger ones. |
| `edit_artifact` | Sends only the change. Everything applies or nothing does, the result is checked against a picture, and edits made by someone else in between are never overwritten. |
| `rollback` | Makes an earlier version live. The link shows it right away. |

## Organize and share

| Tool | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| `update_artifact` | Renames an artifact, replaces its tags, moves it to a project, or gives its link a new name (the old one keeps redirecting). |
| `create_project` | Creates a project, or returns the existing one with that name. |
| `share` | Changes who can open a link, invites people by email, makes a new secret code, or turns controls off for full screen. |

## Delete

| Tool | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| `delete_artifact` | Deletes an artifact and all its versions. Its link stops working. |
| `delete_older_versions` | Frees storage by deleting the versions older than the live one. Newer ones stay. |

> **Careful.** Deleting is permanent. Agents are told to ask first; say so explicitly when you do want something deleted.
