Static.app alternative · Static website hosting
A Static.app alternative you can publish to from claude.ai
Static.app is low-cost static hosting with forms, daily backups and a desktop sync app. artifact.guru is for sharing what your AI makes: it publishes over MCP with no API key, opens Word and PowerPoint as pages, and starts every link private.

| Question | Static.app | artifact.guru |
|---|---|---|
| Publish from AI agents | MCP server and REST API with an API key; ChatGPT and most claude.ai accounts can’t connect | Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Gemini CLI, Grok and any MCP app, over OAuth; no API keys |
| Upload it yourself | Drag in a ZIP, images or PDFs; Mac and Windows app syncs a folder; import Claude links | Drag in files, or a whole folder for a built site or React app |

| Who can open a link | Anyone with the link; password protection on individual pages | Private, public or secret code on every plan; email invites (up to 50) on paid plans |
| Who opened it | Paid plans: visitors, page views, referrers, locations, browsers; short link clicks | Paid plans: names on email links; counts, sources and devices on the rest |

Where Static.app is good
- It is cheap: $6 a month, or $5 billed yearly, buys 2 websites, a custom domain, analytics, forms and short links.
- Daily backups, on Large or $5 a month per site, keep 365 versions to preview and restore, and the desktop app publishes a folder on every save.
- Its MCP server gives agents 12 tools to publish, edit single files and download sites, with API keys you can set to expire.
Where artifact.guru is different
- Agents connect over MCP with OAuth: approve once in the browser, no keys to paste. That works in claude.ai, Claude desktop and mobile, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and Grok.
- Word, PowerPoint, React components and Markdown open in the browser as pages, next to PDFs and sites. Drag in a built site or React app folder and it becomes one artifact.
- Every artifact starts private. Invite up to 50 email addresses and see each person who opened it, when and how often.
- Every publish or edit is a new version at the same link, with rollback any time. An agent edit never overwrites a change someone else made in between.
Moving over from Static.app
- 1Grab your build folder, or ask your agent for a ZIP of the site from Static.app.
- 2Drag the folder into artifact.guru, where a built site or React app becomes one artifact, or have your AI publish it over MCP.
- 3Choose who can open it. On a paid plan, add your subdomain with two DNS records for public and secret-code links.
Questions about Static.app and artifact.guru
Can I use artifact.guru in claude.ai without an API key?
Yes. You add artifact.guru as a remote MCP server and approve once in the browser. Static.app’s connector needs an API key, and its own MCP page says most claude.ai accounts can’t add it yet.
Can I keep a page private?
Static.app lets you put a password on individual pages; artifact.guru has no passwords you choose. It starts every artifact private, then lets you invite emails, share an 8-character secret code or go public, all at the same link.
Which costs less?
Static.app’s entry plan costs less: Starter is $6 a month, or $5 billed yearly, for 2 websites and a custom domain, after a 7-day trial. artifact.guru is $0 for 3 live links, and Individual is $12 a month for unlimited links and your own domain.
Can my AI edit a page after it’s live?
Yes on both. Static.app’s MCP tools rewrite single files at the same address. On artifact.guru each edit is a new version you can roll back, and an agent edit never overwrites a change someone else made in between.
