Sharing

Custom domains

Serve every link from your own subdomain, like docs.yourcompany.com. Included in paid plans.

What changes

Connect a subdomain you own and every link in the workspace moves to it: artifact.guru/acme/q3-roadmap becomes docs.acme.com/q3-roadmap. Links you already sent keep working and forward to the new address.

At your DNS provider
TXT_artifact-guru.docsartifact-guru-verify=…
CNAMEdocsdomains.artifact.guru
  1. Ownership
  2. Hostname
  3. Certificate
  4. HTTPS check
artifact.guru/acme/q3-roadmapdocs.acme.com/q3-roadmap
Two DNS records, four automatic checks, and the links move to your domain.

Public and secret-code links open on your domain. Links that need a sign-in (Private and Email) keep opening on artifact.guru, where signing in works.

Before you start

  • A Individual or Team plan. See Plans and billing.
  • A subdomain you control, such as docs.acme.com. Most DNS providers can't point a bare domain (acme.com) with a CNAME, so use a subdomain.
  • Access to your domain's DNS settings.
  • In a team workspace, an admin sets this up.

Connect your domain

  1. Add the domain

Open Settings, find Custom domain, type the hostname and choose Add domain.

  2. Add the TXT record

It proves the domain belongs to your workspace. The name starts with _artifact-guru; Settings shows the exact name and value, with copy buttons.

  3. Add the CNAME record

It points the subdomain at artifact.guru.

    Copy
    domains.artifact.guru
  4. Check now

Choose Check now. Settings checks ownership, the hostname, the certificate and HTTPS, and ticks each step as it passes. The certificate is issued for you.

Type Name Value
TXT _artifact-guru.docs artifact-guru-verify=… (copy it from Settings)
CNAME docs domains.artifact.guru

If a check doesn't pass

StepWhat to check
OwnershipThe TXT name and value. Many DNS providers add your domain to the name for you, so enter only _artifact-guru.docs, not the full hostname.
HostnameThe CNAME points at domains.artifact.guru, and no A or AAAA record uses the same name.
CertificateUsually done minutes after the CNAME is in place. Give it a little longer.
HTTPS checkOpen the domain in a browser. Anything in front of it, such as another proxy, has to pass requests through.

Remove a domain

Choose Remove next to the domain in Settings. Links move back to their artifact.guru addresses. If a paid plan ends, the same happens automatically, and the links keep working at artifact.guru.
